Accompanying measures for Solid Waste Management,South-east Albania
Objective
The aim of this project was to provide consultancy support for the Accompanying measures project, which has been working simultaneously with the infrastructure implementation project. It supported Korça Regional Waste Management (KRWM) company in its organisational and institutional development, financial management and development and operation of the waste planning, collection and treatment systems.
Results
• Organisational, financial, technical, implementation and operational capacities, and the planning, monitoring and PR activities of KRWM developed and strengthened
• New municipal SWM system in Korça Region is successfully implemented
• KRWM can sustainable operate the new regional sanitary landfill and transfer stations
• Sustainable waste collection services implemented in member LGUs
• Pilot projects for waste separation implemented
• Public awareness regarding waste management increased in member municipalities and communes
